RE: A Noob Question on Tortoise Food
In case no one has mentioned it DO NOT USE FLORIST FLOWERS, sorry for the caps, most florists I know spray their flowers with chemicals. please do not use them you can always ask a neighbor for some old flowers as long as they dont spray them. I grow all my food so I can not help you with where to buy your greens, but most supermarkets do sell a wide variety of greens.

RE: A Noob Question on Tortoise Food
Big open areas can also scare torts when they are used to a "small" enclosure. They will run around looking for a place to hide and feel safe. An enclosure they are used to is best. If you don't have a yard, you can even have a Rubbermaid container with substrate to put the tort in outside to get sun. But yes, a yard is great for them. I think you need to do research on food, look around your local stores, and see if you can grow anything. If you property prepare it shouldn't be something to stress about! I think the key thing to tort ownership is a lot of research, and then even more research, before you even think of getting a tort. Let us know what other questions you have! Smile

This is my opinion. I recommend you do the research and make your own decision. Best wishes.
