NEW DIAGRAMS-T. h. boetteri vs. T. h. hercegovinensis vs. T. h. hermanni
I e-mailed Josh about changing the diagrams I made and posted in the above sticky thread to these new ones, but I figured I'd post them here for now as I'm sure he's pretty busy.

T. h. boettgeri vs. T. h. hercegovinensis vs. T. h. hermanni
(Proper differentiation of Hermann's tortoise subspecies)

I have decided to re-do these diagrams and also include Testudo hermanni hercegovinensis this time.

hi chris, I know this thread is long dead but I was looking at your pictures and was wondering (forgive me, I'm in an inquisitive mood today) about the THH on the carapacial markings picture and his abnormal scute - how interesting! Was s/he hatched like that? Do you know why?

It is very common for tortoises to be born with abnormal scute arrangements due to incubation temperatures that are too high, so yes they are born like that.
