Hi there, my Russians went through their first hibernation after having them for 6 years.(I was too chicken) They started scratching last night(they are under our bed, we keep our room very cold) I let them out today and they seem fine. I put them in their pool in the cooler end and they walked around some, can't be sure after I came home from work how much they ate, I only left them alittle. sometimes one of the dogs chows on their food. I am off tomorrow and will watch, but my question.
I should or should'nt soak them right away? I thought someone said let them take their time so they don't warm up to quick, but I know they need warm to digest food. OK better question, what's the best way to awaken some Russians, and was dec to feb enough of a hibernation?
Thanks Na
Just set them up as usual, lights on 12 to 14 hours, hot end, cool end, basking spot all the normal stuff. Big Grin I always soak my Russians just a few hours after they come out of hibernation.
December to February is just fine for a hibernation period.
