that 2cm macro looks amazing!
I think you just have to know what you are doing....and apparently you do Terry. Beautiful pictures.

Thank you Terryo!

However there was a time when I wasn't sure how to change the batteries in this camera.. so I asked everybody that would listen.. and tried to read and understand the "manual" that came with it. Of course the nerds that write those manuals don't take into consideration there are folks like us that don't speak or understand their language!

So if this old greybeard can figure it out.. you and everyone else can too.

Go to where you bought.. or where they sell.. your camera and ask them for a 10 minute crash course, ie. - "How do I take close-ups"?

Go to this link and find your camera.. it will tell you the Marco focal length.. 2.54 cm = 1 inch. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs.asp

So when my 'old' camera has an 8 cm Macro.. that= 3.15 inches. So the closer I stay to 3" away from the object the greater the chance of getting a clearly focused pic. Like anything else it's called practice.. practice.. practice.

When Tiger Woods says he got lucky.. it was practice and preparation meeting opportunity. He takes wild chances and is able to recover.. because he is practiced.

Robyn I have a pic with a reflection of me taking the pic.. in the eye of the tortoise - but only because I know that's what it is. Got lucky!
OK...so can we see the one with the reflection of you taking the pic. Please......

Terryo I thought you were more interested in learning how to get the most out of your camera(?).

This pic can't show you much of anything cropped down to 700 wide - I took it at about a foot away.. and I mentioned it wouldn't be really visible..

Even tho I didn't hatch him - { he came from cdmay } - a real easy way to tell if you have a "true" Cherryhead is of course by the color of the head and that bulbous nose.. [ a rare yellow squash treat ].. take a look at that shnozz!

This guy is a month shy of 2 yrs. old here and 5+".
Terry, I might be wrong. But are you saying you are the Tiger Woods of redfoots photography?! 8' )
I think what is is trying to say is that he putts around all the time Rolleyes
I looked up the link that you sent, and my camera has (the Marco focal length.. 10 cm ) I don't think that is very good ...is it? I convereted it into inches and I got 4 in. Is that right? This is my camera.

It takes good pictures, but I never tried to get that close. I'm going to try ...next time Pio comes out to eat.

OK, now you're just showing off!
Why doesn't Pio have all that red on his head? Uh oh...he is a mutt!!! Well, that makes me love him even more!!! But look! He has a perfect heart on his head. Awwwww......

This is about a month ago. Not as good as yours...Terry. But I am going to try again...until I get it right.
Gota love Hearts Tongue Oh a suggestion, make sure you have your macro selection turned on. I used my camera for over a year before I found I had to turn it on. Amazing what reading the directions can do sometimes.

That's better Terryo,

Your camera is technically capable of pics almost twice as good as mine [ the ones with the dates in them ]! Your's has twice the MP's [ dots per square inch ] and 75% of the Macro lens.. which means you can't get as close when you shoot on "AUTO" setting.. but when you "Zoom-in" you won't have the distortion that mine.. for example.. would have! Yes 4" is correct. So keep practicing.. you can do it!

Pio has a different pattern and "shade" of red.. that's all. Mine don't have hearts on their head.

I call this one "RoseNose".. a different color..
