Hi all, I am new to the forum and wanted to say a big Hi.
I have just woken my Tortoises up from their few months in hybernation. I hybernate my Tortoises in a cheap fridge in my garage. I have been doing it this way for a few years and it seems to work a treat. I don't know how many of you do the same but I set the fridge to 3-5 degrees and so the fridge only tends to kick in on those mild balmy days when the temperature outside rises above 5. The few weeks back we saw temperatures of 12 degrees so the Tortoises would of been waking up. I have Mediteranian Spur Thighs, 1 Male and 4 Females. By mid April I let them loose in my rear garden, I just let them do their own thing and leave food out for them which I collect locally. I have recently bought 2 British Blue, shorthaired kittens, they have not met the Tortoises yet, so I am sure they will enjoy stalking and pouncing on my little tank bodied friends next month.
