Put it on the underside of the tank on one end. It should be just fine.

A question about this heater, if you need a liner over the pad that is adhired to underside of the tank, doesn't that say there is risk of fire and or burning the animal ? Wouldn't a basking light and flat rock be a better option?

Not in a ten gallon tank, I would not recommend a basking light for a 10gal at all. Can we say oven?
What she can do is not adhere the heater to the glass of the tank. Just leave it sitting below the tank, that gives a little space between it and the glass and it should be fine.
Oh thanks for asking, he is doing good.. a chow hound he eats 3 large pinkies every week with no problems, he just shed for the first time with us last week, and now he is back to his normal self. My only issue is the under tank heater is not keep the tank at 85 degrees. My friend has two ball pythons and she said to put a red light on him day/night to get the heat up to 85 but I worry about it getting to hot when I am gone and having him cook. My kiddos b-day is in a month so his bday present is a bigger, better setup for the little guy although I will probably lose him in all the bedding. Do you guys think he is eating to much??
