Hi, great to have new folks joining. I am not yet sharing my home with a tortoise but I am sure that it will not be long. So until that time and after that I am enjoying all you lucky folks that do and gaining great ideas to help have my home ready when my new friend comes to stay

Don't lump us all together, Doralee. Most of us don't keep different species of babies together, only a few do. Personally, I don't like that idea. I'd much rather keep the species separately in order to provide each one the kind of care it requires.

If you have specific questions, go to the tortoiseforum.org home page and click on the particular subject that your question fits into. Then you can click the button that says, "new thread" and pose your question.

For instance, if your question is about a sulcata, you would scroll down to "species specific" and click on ,"sulcata central" and then "new thread." For placing the picture of the one you're not sure about, I would scroll down to "general tortoise discussion" then click "new thread" and post your picture there for i.d. ing.

Welcome to the forum. We're really glad you're here!

Hi, I saw an injured painted turtle on the highway, moved it to the side and noticed it had a cracked shell, if anyone is out there, I will continue with my story
Hi everyone, my names Andy and I am the proud owner of:

1 Russian Tortoise (had roughly 2 years now)
and
1 Sulcata Tortoise (roughly 3 months old Smile), he's a cute little baby, and I have the space for him when he gets bigger. I'm already so attatched to him Tongue
Hi, I'm newbie here. I'm from Vietnam with 3 vietnamese turtles.
1 small Flowerback Box Turtle
1 small Vietnamese Leaf Turtle
1 Elongated Tortoise. (22cm ~ 8.7inches)
They are very cute. But I have a problem that I don't the 2 small turtle eat anything since I got them a month ago. They are a little coward.
I'm so worried.
Welcome Welcome Welcome to both of you!!!! Can't wait to see pictures of all your Turtles & Tortoises. Sorciere if you have not already, I would make a post in the turtle section of the forum. For a little help now! What are the temps for the two not eating? Do you have lights for them if so what kind?? I don't know much about your species but I will see if I can help if not maybe someone else can...
Thanks for your care. I shall make a post in the turtle talk forum.
I did ask for help in our forum but it seems that noone can help. haizzz
Hi Everyone,

I have decided to join in this Forum for two reasons. The first is we have had California Desert since I was 12 years old and I am much older than that now. My first tortoise was Sampson, a derest tortoise my dad rescued when he almost hit him and we found out that he had been injured just before that as his shell was cracked. Dad carefully tried to realign the shell and just duct taped it up for a couple of months and we had that tortoise until he burrowed out of the yard 15 years later. Later we were designated tortoise guardians for my husband's best friend when he divorced and was living in a trailer with on where for Tudor to stay until he bought a house and asked for custody back. Missing Tudor, we adopted 4 hatchlings from a lady who game them to anyone that could care for them.
Unfortunately, we are now down to one, as the three others, who were outside in their habitat were stolen this last week. The last one was in the house because we had found that one of her feet was cut and we were watching her closely.
Now we're looking at getting at least one male about 7 years old. Though one wouldn't replace our babies that were stolen, a male would allow a possible breeding pair which was what we were going to have to do later anyway.
