Just wanted to share that I will be adding two more RFs....
besides the two I'm waiting for from Terry.
I was at my pet shop saturday, getting new home for
Buuud ( my Bearded Dragon) and was looking at the two torts
he still has from a year ago. Told him they were "unhappy"
as their eyes were running from lack of humidity! So while he was
misting them, just out of the blue he said I could have them if I wanted them! I jumped on it!!!!! I just want to get them here
so the can have a big out side enclosure & a happy home!
They will have to stay there just a little longer, we'er still
working on the details of my enclosure. But they will be home
soon! They are pyramided from too much tort pellets, but not
real bad. I just can't wait to see if they will love the natural
diet mine has been on for the last yr! I just luv watching these
guys eat! Such gusto!!! LOL

OH that is great that he's letting you have them, and that you will be able to give some proper care to them after all this time! CONGRATS!
Sounds like they have served their jail time and are now being released to a future life filled with sunshine and greens. Congrats to the three of you! Smile
Awesome! Adopting is a great way to get new pets. Just don't put them with your new ones right away. Always do a 60-90 day quarantine. Also get a fecal exam done. Like you said they have been living in a pet shop for at least a year, so they have come into contact with a lot of different animals even if it was only threw cross contamination.

Good luck!
Kay, How big are they in comparison to the ones you are getting? I am soooo happy for both you and the torts.

Kay.. and everyone.. the above [ cross-contamination ] is one of the big KILLERS of torts these days! Being with their own kind.. from who knows where.. is bad enough!!!

And I wouldn't 'mix' them for at least 6 MONTHS.. [ or ever ] and they have been tested monthly.. as Vince mentioned.

Thanks all, & for the advice! Yeah, I'll keep them seperate, and care for them last thing! They are from the same breeder that my first
one came from. Mine is smaller than one of these, & maybe about the same size as the other but mine hasn't been force fed on "pellets"!
Also there has been other torts in this enclosure, making quarintine
a MUST! Terry, have made bird room into reptile room! So will make
it much nicer to keep everyone happy! Am using the book-shelf
idea. One small one for the leos,& two lg ones for the RFs.
Will be quarintining in tubs for easy disinfecting,+ seperate outside pens.
Kay
P.S. Raised exotic birds, so really do know how important quarentine
is & cross contamination! At least torts don't flap wings.Lol

Hmmm flying torts, now that could be interesting. Big Grin:D

Now wouldn't it! Hehe Just ment that torts couldn't cross contaminate as parrots could, by flaping wings
& stiring up the dust. Some parrots have alot of feather dust.
Congrats! Glad they are getting out of a bad situation. Post pics when you get them!
