What type of greek tortoise is this?

It's a male Jordanian/Israeli greek, T.graeca ssp. Jose Big Grin

I Got Him from Petco they have 2 more
I thought it was a Tunisian Greek Tortoise (Testudo graeca nabeulensis)
odds are against this being the case.

What's really interesting is the irregular scute. That's the 3rd male out of 3 different species with this irregular pattern.

Which petco? I'm in CA
The petco in NY I have also went to another petco and they have a few greek torts there also but all three look diffrent the only have a sign that say Greek
I wish they can be more specific
Collector, unfortunately most pet stores do not know what type of tortoises they have. When the tortoises arrive they have a label that states Greek, so it is a Greek. They have no idea what kind they may have or for that matter if there are different kinds. Some stores have sold Russians as Greeks and box turtles as Redroots.
So I guess it is up to the buyer to try and find out all they can about the type of tortoise they see. Research, Research, and more Research.
