I have 6 smaller CB Turkish Greek tortoises, Testudo graeca ibera. They are all around 2 1/2 inches and are doing great. They are siblings of the larger 4 (different clutch) so not unrelated. They are eating all their greens and weeds too and have gotten the best start.
They are $80 with next day shipping being $45.
I give great after purchase care and advice. Big Grin

How do you know they came from Turkey?

Danny
I got the female in 1992 and at that time Turkey was the only country sending out Greek tortoises. The Tolbas of Egypt hadn't yet started sending tortoises out of the Middle East, that would come in the late 90's early turn of the century to date.
The male is a long term captive and matches the female, so yes I am assuming he came from the same region she did. Eggs have been 100% fertile with this pair.

Danny
So... It's based on your assumptions that they came from Turkey?

I hope you can pardon my ignorance... what is the Tolbas of Egypt?

That and pictures of tortoises taken in Turkey. Big Grin

The Tolbas are a family in Egypt that have been in the reptile and small mammal business for probably a hundred years. They started as snake charmers and supplied other snake charmers. They were probably the ones that got Egypt to send out all the Egyptians and Libyan greeks in the early 90's.
I've gotten at least one e-mail from them about 3 or 4 years ago listing everything they were selling including greeks and egyptians, all for $25. I saw, basicly the same e-mail that I got later, an e-mail that Wayne Hill got a year before the one I got saying the same thing. They were shipping everything out of Jordan.

Danny
So cool. Thanks.
