Hello all, sorry to post another thread so quickly. My baby leopard was just eating and after he had gulped down a piece of dandelion green, he made sort of a weird hiccup/chirp noise. It was more high pitched, and only happened once. It's the only time I've seen/heard this happen, and I think may have been a result of the size of leaf he stuffed in. But, I wanted to make sure it wasn't a sign of anything terrible. I'll keep an eye on him, but if anyone has experienced something similar please let me know....I could just be a nervous new owner! Thanks very much

Hi Dan,
I have been new to this for a few months now and am still nervous! Lol
Luckily I have meet a wonderful vet who is very helpful and I can call with lots of questions!!
Once I was taking care of my mother's tortoises while she was on vacation and I was out in the yard checking on them and her big 13 lb desert tortoise was trailing behind me as usual. I had my little dog with me and behind me I heard a loud cough. I thought my dog was coughing so I turned around to see what she was doing and there was "Turkle" (the tortoise) with his mouth wide open coughing. He did it about 3-4 times then stopped. It really surprised me to hear such a loud noise come from a tortoise. I was worried a bit too because I had never heard a desert tortoise do that. Nothing ever developed and we have not seen or heard it since. - Leslie
I was wondering the same thing. I heard squeeky sounds from them at night. Interesting!

I find it amazing the amount of different sounds a tort can make, when they are well. I hear grunts, groans, growls, a hiccup type sound, clicking and almost chirping let alone the occasionall Pooing or gas sounds, from the other end.

Yeah, that too...
