Hey you guys!
I have a red ear slider turtle and the nails on him are growing to the point where it kinds hurts when he scrathes me. Is there anyway to cut his nails?
Does anyone know?
Thank for your help.
Its probably a male. It is natural for the front claws to grow excessively long "Freddy Kruger" nails in males. I think it helps in the breeding process. They swim backwards in front of the female and flutter those long claws in her face. Once he has her attention, he climbs on and the long claws help him hold on. I wouldn't cut them. Just hold him less.
