Establishing "Tortuga Flats" rescue/sanctuary in White Rock, New Mexico. Established with nearby Vet in Los Alamos, who is also Sulcata enthusiast/owner. Current residents are rescues, one 3 oz. Sulcata, and two very entertaining Boxes. Looking to add to our little family, wanting to help any Torts/Boxes in need. Please contact at jay8019@msn.com.

What kind of tortoises are you experianced with? What is the size of your rescue? Can you post a little more information about what you are doing out in NM ? new mexico is a really good place for sulcatas, can you house very large ones?

I am also doing a sanctuary down here in florida and some times I get animals that would really do a lot better out in the desert then here in humid florida.
Basically just the Sulcata for now. My Vet is also a Sulcata owner/enthusiast/practitioner - willing to help in any way at all! I work with Biologists - who come by the house, "Tortuga Flats", two to three times a month. The boss, my wife Amy, has declared a definite interest in Greeks - know of any in need of our help?

Both my wife and I are native born New Mexicans. We're established here in White Rock as lifers (until retirement). No plans of ever leaving the beautiful Desert Southwest.

Right now we're about 1.25 acres, with budgeted, concrete plans of moving to almost 3.5 acres, within three years.

As of today, current residents will be Scooter - Sulcata; Franklin and two baby 3 Toed Boxes. Would be willing to house smaller to mid-sized Sulcata or two, due to space limitations; and from 3-5 small to mid-size Torts. In three years, determined to take in a few more Sulcata's.

Please let me know if we can be of any assistance!

Jay Justice
