I was just wondering what people use on the shells to mark them? I noticed marked shells lately and was just wondering what they use and if it harms the shell in anyway.
i've wondered this myself since at some point im supposed to affix these DT permits to my little hatchlings
yes same here. the first time i got my tortoise, there's some sort of sticker or glued paper. it's so stick that i still can't remove it completely. as i learned that the carapace actually have pores for the tortoise, will that paste be a problem to it?
What I want to know is how to get the markings OFF! LOL!
We use the stickers for the DT here in California. The paste won't hurt their shells. it is a small area it is covering. Josh most of the members of my chapter cttc just keep the sticker with the torts paperwork especially when they are small. Kelly what kind of markings are you trying to remove-what substance is it? i have heard of people using a dot of nail polish or acrylic paint. Or even a Sharpie pen. the first two would wear off and the second comes off after a while with natural growth. Perhaps the breeders could answer what they mark theirs with for the stud books.
I think Kelly is trying to figure out how to get hot pink sharpie off of one of her particular Russians :-)~ Funny Danny has some Russians with the exact same markings.
Hmmm why do I think AJ has a hot pink sharpie around her house?...lol
I've heard that people use nail polish before. I'm not positive on this though.
Sharpie lightens or sometimes cleans with alcohol tho I don't know if you want to use that on your tort.
