I use a Exo_terra 125W Solar Glo lamp which claims to provide UVA and UVB as well as light and heat at the same time. Does anyone know this is OK as I can't find much info about this type of lamp. Thanks.

The Mercury Vapor Bulbs have better UVB usually than the fluorescent tubes. However, the reports I have read said the 2 that are safe are the MegaRay and the T-Rex Active. I can't remember why the Solar Glo wasn't recommended. I think the site with info is:

Good luck

My bulb is one of the worst ones listed, the Exo-terra Repti-GLO 10.0 standard florecent tube. Along with a dozen other bulb types ( mostly compact florecents and the bulbs from Zilla )

Apparently they are emitting UVB at such a low end of the spectrum its dipping into UVC radiation and causing burns to the Eyes of reptiles.

Crap, I have the Exo Terra Repti-glo 10.0 in Brutus' enclosure (http://www.tortoiseforum.org/indoor-juve...-2859.html)! I haven't noticed any of the symptoms described in the original post, but I just checked his eyes closely under a magnifying lamp, and his conjunctiva are exposed. So his eyes are probably a bit irritated. Poor guy. I'm turning that lamp off now...
