Carrots

Some of you or even most of you may find this rather stupid, but I'm curious.
Whilst peeling and grating some carrot up for Hermann, I could'nt believe the orange stain on my hands left from them.
Is the colouring safe, my daughter gets hyper on red colouring, I don't fancy coming home and finding my tortoise trying to climb the walls!!

Just wondering why you are feeding carrots - they would not get it in the wild! Try him on dandelions and other wild weeds. Lots of carrots would be high in vit A which is not good for torts Wink

Hope this helps Smile

Take care

RE: Carrots

I have not heard of this happening to a tort, but anything is possible.

While yes, it's not part of a tort's natural diet, I do give mine a small one apiece about once a month. I don't grate or peel them, I let them crunch and gnaw them down. Using this rare, but loved treat, as another means to help keep beaks worn down.

RE: Carrots

I have only given it to him a couple of times, I read it somewhere on a forum not too sure if it was this one or not.
I thought that it would be easier for him grated, he is a baby ))*_*((
