Well, very disappointed. I didn't have glasses but I did watch it with my phone camera in a safe way. It didn't get dark, just a bit hazy. None of my pictures looked like anything was happening. Total bust for us. I guess if you had the glasses it might have been better, but I thought it was supposed to get dark not just hazy. The temp did drop a couple degrees and the wind picked up. My chickens went inside their coop, my leopards did nothing exciting.
Wow, the eclipse really put a pep in his step lol.Ghost and the Eclipse video: Ghost and the Eclipse Apr 8 2024
No it wasn't. 94% I think or 96. But I thought it would have been more obvious with the darkness. Was it supposed to be 100% where you are?
Somehow I should feel offended by your statement. It's a crying shame I have to agree with it. 😆Wow, the eclipse really put a pep in his step lol.
He was just trying to get away from the crazy following him lol
Come on, this is the crazy tortoise forum. It's said with love😊Somehow I should feel offended by your statement. It's a crying shame I have to agree with it. 😆

Same here. Folks around me were shooting off fireworks and cheering. My son lives in Texas in the path of the sun/moon alignment. He said it was awesome. It got so dark the streetlights came on.
That's a great tortoise yard!Ghost and the Eclipse video: Ghost and the Eclipse Apr 8 2024
That's what I thought would happen here, street lights come on. If you didn't know it was the eclipse, the haziness wouldn't have even caught your attention. Thought 94-96% would have been more exciting. Oh well glad it's over, that's all the news talked about. My son lives in Texas in the path of the sun/moon alignment. He said it was awesome. I'm glad it's over too. Now the aftermath 😞That's what I thought would happen here, street lights come on. Yeah, glad I'm not out in that.I'm glad it's over too. Now the aftermath 😞
I watched it live as it passed over different states on the NASA website. I loved the picture of the moon's shadow/umbra on the earth taken from the space station.Watching it on UK telly now, just amazing to see the live coverage as it sweeps across USA. Those in UK sky news now 😄
And the right size + shape and at the right distance! Imagine if they were on the same plane, then we'd have full eclipses multiple times a year. There's also the 'donut style' partial eclipse where the sun and the moon are in alignment (like today) but the moon is at its farthest distance from earth so it is too small to eclipse the sun (annular eclipse). When that happens the moon looks like a donut hole in the middle of the sun and you can't see the corona. Other partial eclipses are also much more common. Sigh.Does anyone else observing the eclipse find it interesting that the moon is not smaller or larger than the sun but the same size from our sightline on earth? Aren't those odds astronomical if these occurred by happenstance?
