Great. Another star owner. In the USA they are one of the more less available torts. I have two and consider myself lucky to have them.

but sadly most of star tortoise were wild caught... so their population decrease significantly..
im planning on breeding these majestic creatures.. but it still a long way there
oh yeah btw
indian star lay only 2 eggs every 6 months
and in the wild theyve taken 15 indian star every week...
imagine.

They are beautiful! The statistics you have quoted are sad. Do they have breeding programs?

I wish you luck with your breeding. I am also planning on that. What I try to impress on people that as pretty as they are, they also can be difficult to keep. The are not for beginners.

Hi Dud, those torts are lovely! A few people do keep them in the UK where I am, but I stick with Hermanns as it's quite a challenge to provide the right conditions for stars here because of the weather.
I hope one day you do go on to breed with them as this would help the wild ones and no doubt give you much enjoyment too.
