The animals set the time period. Seems like Russians sleep the longest. Here in Central Calif. the desert tortoises go into brumation around the end of October and start waking up around the end of March. I've heard rustling in the Russian's area, so I think some of them are waking up already. I've already seen several box turtles out sunning themselves. The went down sometime in November and are just now waking up.

RE: HIBERNATION

I think on average, depending on species most people for 8-12 weeks in the fridge.

RE: HIBERNATION

My tortoises sleep from March until last week of April. Basically 7 weeks. My turtles however, sleep from November until April.
