Jackson Ratio for Hatchling Tortoises
Are any of you familiar with this Ratio for Hatchling Tortoise growth? I've been monitoring my hermann's size & weight and comparing it to this chart, and it matches like clockwork.
Here´s the "formula":

And here's the Data on my Testudo Hermanni Hermanni:
06 Nov 07 > 16 weeks old > 30 grams > 5 cm > 1,95 inches
12 Nov 07 > 17 weeks old > 32 grams> 5 cm > 1,95 inches
19 Nov 07 > 18 weeks old > 34 grams> -- cm > -- inches
26 Nov 07 > 19 weeks old > 36 grams> 5,3 cm > 2,07 inches
04 Dec 07 > 20 weeks old > 38 grams> 5,5 cm > 2,15 inches
10 Dec 07 > 21 weeks old > 40 grams> 5,5 cm > 2,15 inches
17 Dec 07 > 22 weeks old > 42 grams> 5,7 cm > 2,22 inches
26 Dec 07 > 23 weeks old > 44 grams> 6 cm > 2,34
Is anybody else keeping weekly track of their small torts out there?

RE: Jackson Ratio for Hatchling Tortoises
Hi there! Yes I keep track of my torts weights and compare against the chart. One of them is always a fair bit under and the others are very close to the 'target' weight. What i've found is that weights can go down as well as up and in the short term its not necessarily a problem.

I too use the scale for my Greeks. Will base hibernation on it next year if all goes right.

Duh, I must have been asleep when I read this post. I didn't even realize this was for hatchlings. Thanks TestudoGeek. I'll be putting this to good use now.

Yes I had the one for the adults that's what I originally thought you were talking about. Duh.
I have never heard of any other and they caution everyone about using this for any other tortoise except Testudos.
