I understand and you have made a good point. You are only doing as your vet has instructed you to. Trust in your vet is important. I know you are concerned with his eyes. That is why I asked you to repost his enclosue pics. Sometimes it might be the bulbs or the distance of them or even a substrate that works for one person does not work for another. You could take him back to the vet or give her a call and let her know whats going on with Kreso. See what her suggestions are. Sorry to hear he has taken those few steps backwards.

RE: kreso is better :)

I will see the vet tomorrow and I will post the pictures probably tonight. since I've been told about the lights I placed them really high, like the tube is at 30cm from ground and heating light also around 20cm. he has pure moss peat without any additions. temp is always 25C that is also recommendation from the vet cause of his sneezing and humidity is prettly low, around 30% - I was asking if I need to raise it but I got no answer.
the thing that is worrying me is that this problems with his eyes varies. like this morning his eyes are not blurry at all and he is eating really nice, like comes and takes what he wants...
we will see Smile I am a bi relaxed cause I know nothing will happen over night.

thanks again

I believe there's no need to raise humidity of the enclosure.

RE: kreso is better :)

Hi Edita and I do so much hope that this tortoise is getting better.

I understand that you are taking advice from your vet, but the advice about feeding bananas and any form of meat is quite mistaken. Suitable foods for Hermanns that are high in protein include clover, vetches, sainfoin. Hermanns do not have any metabolism to deal with fruits and feeding these disrupts the gut bacteria. If your vet is suggesting you feed meat to a Hermann then he or she is in a very small minority.

Would be useful to find out if your vet has found or suspected that your tortoise is affected by a certain illness or infection.

meat? if you mean eggs... no, she said nothing about meat. and I am sorry I can't make better arguments but I would rather you all talk to my vet Sad I think his eyes are like this cause of lights cause he has like a flash light and it is not so good for my eyes and especially not his... I am buying a heater so no heating from light anymore

Hi Edita - how is Kreso now?

I don't know what light you were using, but they do need light with UV in it as well as enough heat. So if you are using a heater he would need a UV striplight as well.

Mostly it doesn't cause eye problmes with a combined UV heatlamp, if the lamp is the right distance from the tortoise.

If the peat moss is very dry then there might be some dust causing irritation. You might consider lightly spraying the surface with a little water.

hi!

for the last couple of days his eyes are not blurry at all. Smile wheee!! he is still not focusing as nicely as he could but I will give it a bit of time. he gained some wight.
I have fluo tube with UV specter but I will get a heater also... cause the light is a bit far from ground as it should so I thought that extra heat source would be nice

RE: kreso is better :)

Hello everybody! Sorry for not posting the pictures yet but my exam is killing me.
Kreso i great. After I installed the heater he is more active which is normal and his eyes are better. they are a bit blurry in the morning but it seems like with humans. when he is awake for 10min it goes away. is that normal?
anyway everything else is great so I am sleeping more these last couple of days!

thanks again

I don't use them, so I don't have first hand knowledge, but I THINK that the fluro tubes DON'T put out any heat. So, yes, you do need to provide some sort of heat source besides the fluro tube light. They need to be warm in order to digest their food. If they aren't warm they won't eat.
