RE: Plaese help, I might have a sick leopard

I've found that any light at night can stress a tortoise. It's always best to be as dark as possible.
When a tortoise gets an RI it's a bacterial infection that can usually be traced back to some form of stress. Stress in tortoises is the cause of most conditions that tortoises get.
From what you've said about your set-up the light at night is the only thing that I can see that would be stressing him.

He seems to be rubbing his eyes less, and no nasal discharge that I have seen since that one time it occurred. Maybe it was a false alarm?? I called and made him an appointment for tomorrow. They advised me to steam up the bathroom and keep him in there, the steam will open up his chest. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Running a vaporizer (humidifier) for a respiratory infection is a good thing.
