Hello I just a new buddy for my male Russian and the new one is a Greek male and they are fine now but when I got him home and put him in the cage with my Russian in 1 minute my Russian started too bite him in the face and his legs too is that a singn of saying are you male or female or is it a singn saying this is my cage I was in here befor you? can someone help me on what that really was? thanks so very much and so sorry for my bad spelling and they are doing well now they will eat out of the same plate now

First: you really should seperate them as they are different species and you just got the new guy, he needs a quaranteen time. Second: Two males in a small enclosure will hurt each other/to the extent of possibly a fatal fight. It was definatly this is my territory go find your own thing introduction. If he broke them skin make sure you wash the areas and apply neosporin or the generic until it is scabbed over. Good luck with your torts.

Holly, as Jen said, like species together. Russians with Russians and Greeks with Greeks. Even if their habitat and diets are similar they could carry different parasites that are harmful to one another. Young torts often will get along but once they are older more aggressive behavior comes out. Males are very territorial and will fight. Even if they are getting along now there may be trouble in the future.

ok so Russians will be ok with Russians and Greeks will be ok with Greeks is that what you are trying too say? or other wise the two different torts will be trouble? oh boy now I am in big trouble myself not good in my part at all.

Sorry Holly, yes that is what I am saying. Russians with Russians etc. then even sub adult or adult will sometimes fight. Single torts do just fine alone, unless you plan to breed them. Occasionally, sometimes even they need to be separated. Sometimes one is best until you get things stable like the tort habitat, diet etc. then begin to add to your family. Often it is easier to deal with one if it gets sick (time, worry, and $$$) or while tweaking its habitat. (I found that out the hard way). They are lovely animals and can be irresistible and almost addicting, Ok they are addicting. But make sure you are doing the best for your particular species. A wise man once told me; "It is best to learn everything you can about your one species before branching out to other species." I took this to heart. I own only Greeks. (at least for now-someday I may branch out but I am still learning). I do foster however, DT and 1 small Sulcata. I decided to foster some from my Tort Club. This gives me the chance to try out different types of torts without a lifetime commitment.
Do you have a good Reptile vet in your area? I suggest you pick a tort and learn all you can, read up on it all over the place and ask lots of questions.

Hello and thank you for the sites I email a site called http://www.matts_turtles.org and I might have too give my Russian tort a home cuz I do not have room in my house for another cage so I wrote to him he takes in torts that can not be with thire owners any moor so if you want you can check it out I am think of geting a male Greek so that fonzie my greek male has a friend do you have any male greeks that you can sell? if no then will you have one in the future that can be sold? I am willing too pay for shipping and handling but can not go over 150$ and I have too wait until I get my 2 pay checks from work so if you can let me know and thanks again for the sites.

Housing two male tortoises together is just asking for trouble Holly. Tortoises are fairly solitary and do not require the company of another tortoise.

Its possible two females will get along, but there is always the possibility that they might fight. You just never know. Lots of sight barriers (so they cant always see each other), a large tortoise table or outdoor enclosure for them, and lots of hides MIGHT keep two females from hiding.
