RE: Substrates HELP

T-P perhaps letting people know you live in Coventry, England would help you out. Hopefully there are people here that are from somewhere close that could let you know where you can find aspen or hemp. I know some people use shredded newspaper (dusty) or paper towels. I don't think its the best but.... Anyone out there around Coventry that could give T-P some hints?

RE: Substrates HELP

i wouldn't say any of the substrates you have asked about are suitable Taylor. ring around horse suppliers in your area most will either stock it or order it in

Can you use Aspen exclusively as a substrate?

Yes you can. check out these enclosures.

Fantastic! Thank you for the link to the picsBig Grin
Since our guy passes urine once to twice everyday and feces once almost everyday...I am assuming you change out everything?
He is on paper towel until Friday (last fecal check).

In Coventry do you have "feed shops" for farm supplies etc? It seems here in the US that even if the feed place does not have something they are always willing to order it in for you.

Good luck.

RE: Substrates HELP

one of our farm animal supplies sells this stuff thats like hemcore and aspen.
its just thicker.

i had this for a while, until water got into it somehow and it went odd and damp!

the website for easibed bedding says "Manufactured from carefully selected recycled whitewood fibre, easibed is also one of the ‘greenest’ bedding products and makes a warm, comfortable, supportive, free-draining bed that stays dry on top. Horses on easibed also stay cleaner as it doesn’t cling to manes, tails or rugs."

HeheheBig Grin
Is it strong like cedar?
Or pretty benign like the aspen?
I would think if is mild smelling it would be good to give a try.
