Temptation

Since I have Percival and I have gotten used to his upkeep I am VERY tempted to get another one.

But I want one that needs a home. I would also like to get one smaller than Percy since they will be living in my apartment in the winter months until I get a house in three years.

Percy is 7" and I don't know his weight yet.

Do yall think I should get another one? Yall are probably the experts on addiction to tortoises.

Also where would a good place to post that I am open for adoption. I live in Louisiana and I know most rescues are in states that don't allow the shipment of sulcatas across state lines???

Thanks!

Far as I know, there aren't any regulations about shipping sulcatas across state lines. For a while you had to have a doctor's note stating that the tortoise (African tortoises) was free of a certain kind of tick, if you were travelling with one, but they don't ask what kind of tortoise when you ship. The Turtle Rescue of Long Island ships their Sulcatas to southern states all the time. Look into adopting from them. They get in Sulcatas frequently.

As far as the "addiction" portion of your post goes...as long as you have room to care for two giant tortoises that might end up fighting with each other (requiring two separate habitats), and take the proper care of them, providing for their needs, then its up to you whether or not you get another sulcata. Don't just get one because you want one...do some soul searching and ask yourself if you are able to provide the care the tortoise (s) require.
