Shell rot? A couple of pics...
Hi guys, I have a few pics to share.

First I wanted to show the bottom of Shelly's shell. There is a "hole"... I guess possible old shell rot? It seems to be dry and not spreading.

Next, I just wanted to share what we've done so far on her indoor enclosure. It's where she lives right now because it's so cold.

By the way... that lamp is a metal mixing bowl and a handful of old lamp parts from the garage Smile

That is old shell rot. The small pieces of bone and dead scute material will eventually come off.
The table looks great. I like the lamp. Big Grin

What does one do about shell rot, and how does one's tortoise get it?

yep that's a great lamp idea!

Lynn, if the shell rot is already dry, you don't need to do anything with it. I'm sure someone can come and tell us what is to be done if it's still "rotting". Shell rot often comes from being in a location that is too damp, I think. But there could be others causes as well.

Thanks for the info. So much to learn, so little time.
