Shell Curling
Hi,

I have noticed a small amount of curling at the corner of my russian torts shell. He is being fed on salad and weeds with vitamin supplements so i am sure it isnt excess protein is their any other reasons for this? and if so how can it be fixed?

Thanks

RE: Shell Curling
I am sorry Pete but I can not make out where it is curling. Could you try for a better pic.

RE: Shell Curling
i only own a camera phone so that is the best photo i can get. It is probably visibly unoticable anyway, but i can feel it running a finger along the edge of the shell

Could you describe where it is curling. Like under her neck area or between her front and back leg where the bottom and top shells come together, etc?
If you look at this post http://tortoiseforum.org/just-a-couple-p...-1258.html it shows some of Kelly's Russians up close is this the type of shell curl you are referring too?

RE: Shell Curling
OK I down loaded the pic and circled the area I think you are talking about Pete. Let us know if this is what you are referring to.

Thanks to Kelly for the use of her picture.

I can't say for sure, but I believe this may be a trait with some Russians. I don't believe it is a problem, unless it is from over eating. Hopefully some of the Russian experts will chime in. Guys thoughts on shell curling in the back of russians.

RE: Shell Curling
yep a few of my russians have that curling and as far as I know it's not an issue! mine are healthy enough, if just a bit overfed! LOL!

RE: Shell Curling
yeah dat highlighted area was what i was talking about. Well i have been feeding for about and hour every other day so i dont really think its overfeeding and their isnt an other signs of not being healthy.

RE: Shell Curling
I would think that it is just your particular Russian and that the curling wouldn't be a problem at all.
