Kelly I also thought perhaps a Dog run might work for you. I just got one off E-bay and it cost about what I paid to make the pen I have. Now all I have to do is put it together and put boards in the bottom so they cant see out or get themselves stuck. They also come with wire tops and/or shade tops.

Loving any of the 1st five. Really nice look to all. I'm not sure the last two look sturdy enough? Now to go check out the website you gave!

RE: planning ahead for spring/summer
to avoid having to DIG down in the yard, I'm thinking I'll use these and space them every 3 inches or so...

they are definately long enough and will discourage them from digging under, and aren't too costly when you consider you're getting 500 of them!

OMG! That site is terrific Anja!

Did you guys see this?

I just love this look for a small pen. You would have to place pavers or something along the bottom as it is open but way to cool looking.

RE: planning ahead for spring/summer
Well it's just not an option for me to have anything down that far in our yard. But of course I will be doing "head counts" a few times a day, so hopefully I'll be able to catch anyone who might think of an escape!

RE: planning ahead for spring/summer
You could always put chicken wire across the bottom and then fill it in with dirt/soil etc. then you don't have to worry about them digging out.

Misty: I like that bamboo enclosure and it is cheap if you think about the cost of wood, and if it comes with a liner, they won't beable to dig out.
