Yvonne what I do with a tortoise with a big yolk sack is, Get a small plastic container. Get some triple antibiotic ointment and smear a good film all over the bottom. Than put the tortoise in. This way it keeps the yolk sack supple until it's absorbed.
I don't like keeping tortoises with yolk sacks on anything wet as sometimes they can absorb to much water through the yolk sack.

Congratulations! I just can imagine how great that is to see little ones hatching. Hope you're feeling back to yourself soon and all goes well tomorrow. Love seeing the pictures, can't wait to see her.

Thanks. I've just put them on moist paper towells in a clean container. The triple antibiotic ointment sounds like a very good idea.

Here's a picture of my only child. I was a little too close, hence its a little blurry (the wadded up paper towel in background is quite clear...lol!!)

A friend of mine in another state has just hatched out some Mep and his incubation period was sixty eight days.

RE: Manouria - The continuing Burmese saga
Well, because she's an only child, I'll have to keep her!! If any more hatch out, I'll sell them. This baby doesn't seem really tip top. She's sort of lethargic. She does move from one side of the tub to the other occasionally, but just doesn't seem as thrifty as she should. Today will be the first time I offer her some food. We'll see if she has an appetite.
