RE: What the Hay?!
I'd say timothy. Alfalfa may be a high in protein. I give my stars grass hay for all it means.

RE: What the Hay?!
Would this be good for a Sulcata?

I really need to incorporate some hay/grass into my torts diet. She's been eating mostly different greens (mustard, dandelion, watercress, collard) and cactus. She loves that cactus!! but I know that she needs the fiber in the hay/grass. But I'm not sure what would be the best thing to get for her. Upon doing some research on the net, I found this place.

Coldliz, where do you live? The price they asking for 1 pound of hay is what I pay for one square bale. If you live in an area with any type a livestock, I suggest you check newspaper want ads. Any hay fed to livestock is fine for torts.

You could check with whoever has hay if you could get a flake ( this is about a tenth or so of a bail ) or you could store in a dry area till used up. It just that $3/ pound sounds excessive to me.

RE: What the Hay?!
If you decide to use that place, the hay sounds fine. You could also buy seeds and grow your own grass that is blended just for Sulcatas and other grassland torts. Plus you could get clover seeds and offer clovers as well on top of the other things you are feeding.

RE: What the Hay?!
Black Titan as Danny has said and some of the literature I have read stated a diet largely on hay for Greeks is not the best. If you are trying to feed him hay I would suggest useing Grasses- something like wheat grass or burmuda grass. Hays; they have Orchard, Burmuda and Timothy that they sell in pet stores as well as feed stores some by the bale some by the half bale or less. My greeks won't touch the stuff. But they will eat live or fresh grass. I would stay away from Alfalfa it is too high in protien.
