Hello, all! I am new to tortoises and to this forum. We just got our first Sulcata from a zookeeper at a Repticon show. He's about 40 lbs and his name is Cecil. I am enthralled with tortoises and am so excited to have him in our family! I've been doing a lot of research to find out as much as I can about him and what care he needs. It's very warm here in the South right now, but we are in the process of building him a winter "home" while the weather is nice. Right now he seems to be happy in our yard where there is plenty of sun, shade, water, and sand. I look forward to learning from all of your knowledge.

Welcome to TFO!!:tort: Cecil is very handsome!

Thank you. I think Cecil is handsome too...but apparently he's pyramiding, from what I've seen and read. I have a feeling the zoo people I got him from didn't keep him in the best conditions. I hope that going forward he'll have a better life with us!

Well you have come to the right place to find all the info you need to keep any future pyramiding from happening :)

Also new to the forum from Ridgeway, which is between Columbia and Rock Hill. Looking for information and to learn about the husbandry of Sulcatas. Looking to adopt one in the near future, building a large suite now :)

I'm very familiar with Ridgeway! It's the town with the phone booth looking building for a police station. Isn't it?
