I've read various sources, and can't quite determine the best diet.

Does anybody have a diet plan they are willing to share? I'm interested in a greek tortoise and am looking for a good, healthy diet.

Also, how often can greek tortoises be fed fruit like bananas and strawberries?

Hi there! I have a Greek tortoise and they are fab!
I don't have a diet sheet per say but the things I typically feed the little fella are:-
Dandelions (both flowers and leaves)
Clovers
Stinging nettles
Sow thistle (beasties new faveroute!)
Cirsium
Rose petals
Viola
Hibiscus
Spider plants
Lambs lettuce
Artichoke

As a treat I will give cucumber, kale, and a single strawberry once a week

Don't feed banana- it's like crack to tortoises and they usually refuse to eat anything else once you start them on it and it has practically no nutritional value

I feed a strawberry once a week (as per the above) but only because it's got protein in it and that's all Greek torts need. Other than that no fruit at all

You also need to make sure you have a good vitamin and mineral supplement to dust over their food a couple of times per week

Hope this helps!

So are strawberries bad for a greek tortoise?
Fruits are not good for torts (except for red or yellow foots ) about 3 times a summer I give my torts a couple of strawberry tops from when my wife trims strawberry s for us to eat .

I don't know what most weeds are called. How can you identify them easily or learn how to?
