Hello,

I am off to buy some coco coir, as it's apparently best for my little Russian, so it comes in bricks? Right? Once I buy it do I just sprinkle it in or do I need to make it damp?

Thanks for the advice

You should be able to get it from any garden store. It's very common.

One alternative is orchid bark.

What's important is that the substrate is earthy, has no bits (like vermiculite, stones or calcium that a tort might eat) and no added chemical fertilisers.

Not hard to find for those of us in the tropics. I have 4 coconut trees that drop the nuts almost too often. When we strip off the coir (making sure there aren't any resident insects), our inside tortoises love it. Never seen it in bricks out here.
