So my mom is making pasteles and has a ton of potatoes and green bananas. I know i can attempt to feed Buddy potatoes, but what about green bananas?
I know he likes yellow bananas. I am just curious so I wont feed him anything harmful. I tried looking online but everything talks about yellow bananas or ones almost turning brown. Thanks in advance!

He may not eat them. I wouldn't offer potatoes either.

Boxies can eat potatoes, every now and then won't hurt him. I wouldn't feed green bananas. They can make him constipated and boxies prefer ripe fruit and vegetables.

You can feed regular potatoes in small amounts but I would offer sweet potatoes instead.

Okay heard no green bananas and mostly sweet potatoes. right now he is not eating anything but superworms and nightcrawlers. he is avoiding everything i offer... that is why i am trying to put anything and everything in front of him. He has not eaten in like 3 or 4 days. i feed him the occasional nightcrawler he finds in his tank and I do soak him for 30 min every morning. He is more active since i bumped up the heat in his tank and mist it now. I am just worried about him not eating. i am going to buy him some fruits tomorrow or monday to see if i can get him to eat some.

He will eat. He will not starve himself to death. Give it a week. He will eat anything that you put in front of him. That's how long it took for Mrs.Turtle to eat what I put in her tank at least

Take away ALL animal protein NOW! Buy some Mazuri Tortoise Chow as its primary diet, & supplement that with fruits & vegetables that it would find in nature. I've written in another thread that we were just barely able to save two of my son's baby boxies that he fed only worms...the other 8 died really nasty deaths! Also get some calcium/vitamin D supplement to sprinkle on the fruits. Good luck!

I am so sorry for your lost!!! I have already taken away all animal protien from him, it will be going on day number 4, and have only shown him fruits and veggies. By the end of the week i will have some mazuri shipped to my home. i refuse to lose this battle. i have been soaking him every morning and he is a lot more active now and his yellow spots are brighter than ever. next step is gettng him to eat.

Are you in the Northern Hemisphere?
No way my boxies would eat anything this time of year unless i kept them at 75-80 F and lights on 14 hours/day, and even then they might not eat. So i brumate them when they get like that.

I am in chicago IL. i am keeping his tank at 80 sometimes a little warmer. (I have a cheap thermometer on the warm side of his tank)
I just fed him a mix of long leaf lettuce (use to be his fave), cut up carrots, and cut up grapes. i then sprinkled calcium with vitamin D supplement. i peeked in on him and he is finally eating!! he fell in love with the grapes! i have some mazuri coming in the mail once it gets here i will feed him that but i am adding grapes to everything so i know he is eating.
