After alot of searching we have found our new home for kids
We had an excotic pet store close and it was just perfect, i was suprised thst it fit in my van, the basement steps where alot tougher but in it is and sat up and they love it
We have a mix brew
We have Siruis Black 16 in cherry head and Belatrex Lastrange 12 cherry head, Aboo 10 in redfoot, Jazzi 12 in redfoot ,LilyPad 7 in golden-yellow foot, pokahontas a 8 in wood turle, Shelly a western box turtle most are rescues The enclosure has a nade with wheels
It is big enough for my precious
Luppen (Remis) he is a 8 year old sulcata he is also a rescue.
We have a zoo with dogs, cats, dwarf bunnys, hedgehogs, Ferrets, Firebelly toads, Leppard gecko, and an African Gray pariot, all are rescues i just love animals, my tortoises have been a big challenge
When they are rescues they have likely roamed free and eaten anything they have found so i evaluate them by the self for a few days check health (i was a nurse before my bones failed) so i watch and start on the right diet, i am blessed only my sulcata Luppen
Was not ready to give up crackers and many others it has been almost 2 yesrs and he is doing well on hay grass and some romaine on saturdays, fruit bi-weekly.

Since you posted this in "Photos and Videos" I'm assuming you had intended to add a picture or two?

It was hard for me to really understand what you're trying to tell us. I don't understand the line about the exotic pet store. The pet store closed and you were able to buy stuff cheaply????? Or the pet store was close to where you live??? Exactly what was it that fit in your van?

I figured out that you have four RF and a YF, a wood turtle and a box turtle and a sulcata. Are each of these groups housed individually?

I'd just love to see the picture. Sounds like you have your hands full.

Hi what i ment about my new enclosure
Is a pet store that sells big snakes, and big sulcatas tortioses, and he quite often gets tortoises (red, yellow foots) that are big and people just do not understand how
Big they get or how demanding they are.
Our new enclosure, was really a good find
We had built special enclosures, for them we moved in oct 2014 and we had a flood in dec 2014 all animals went upstairs, so our tortoises/turtles have lived in temp home. So this was so awesome that i found a perfect home for them, they are very happy, i am having a really hard time uploading pictures so i will work on that20161227_195651.jpg 20161215_172940.jpg 20161226_215351.jpg IMG_0129.jpg7

Do those Sulcatas just roam the house with the cat?

Welcome. to answer the question that I could understand: No. I'm sorry. That enclosure would be on the small side for just one adult Redfoot. Are you keeping a Yellow foot with the red foot? They should be separated. They are different species. It's not just a coloration thing.
In fact, I'm sorry to say that you are far from being O.K. as far as correctly keeping any of those tortoises from what I can see in the photos.
Sorry for all of the negativity.
It seems like you have too many pets and not enough room to house them.
For example:
The Sulcatas will need a large outdoor area and they'll need to be housed alone and separated.
The Yellowfoot will need to be housed alone and will need an 8'x8' pen with heat and UVB
The Red foot can all be housed together, if they get along, but will need an area that is over 300 square feet I.M.O.for that many of them, if not bigger.

Please read up on Redfoot care under our Redfoot section.
You want humidity of over 70%, temps between 79 and 89 and uvb.
The yellow foot and Sulcatas need different parameters.
I can only help with the Redfoot and you can P.M.me with any questions if you wish.

The majority of my tortoises where found at a wooded are near a lake
My yellow foot was not a baby but youbg and from petco and in a very small glass aquarium withe a hole drilled on her shell
Aboo was from a pet store as well and in small aquarium not a baby or adult neither where being feed proper diet, i do consider the 2 from pet stores rescues as the conditions they where in, had reg light bulb small aquariums. Their new home
Is bigger then it looks, the underneath for my sulcata lives(also roams our bedroom)
Is big enough for my 6'5" 250 pound husband and me and my son all fit comfortably in there together
When i found my first tortoise the weather was chilly i live in nebraska
They are all in 1 way or another have been abandoned or housed in bad conditions
I am not perfect but we have a vet that comes to the house, and a vet at an animal hospital for check ups and anything that comes up. And i have a dash cam to make sure, they eat together and sleep together and water is treated and changed often they all drink and soak,
This summer our outdoor enclosure will be done. In this part of the midwest making sure they can be housed inside
Is a big job, when we found these tortys abandoned we knew it would not be easy but i read all the info books and other
People who have tortoises that are rescues
I have a rare bone disease, rare enough they have no name and no cure
My tortoises/turtles and the rest of our zoo live in a big house and are loved and cared for by 6 adults and are loved and they come first. The majority of our animals where dumped not wanted or just hard to deal with. I wàs a nurse when i was in the rat race, i loved and took care of the sick and elderly. I became a member of this site to share my babys and to get a greater understanding
From people who have rescued and done all that can be donè to have as good of a life as possible not perfect, but being negative or more in the know may work for you is fine. I love them and the love and trust me

Hello, E dahl! You have beautiful tortoises. I see that you truly love animals and that you want to take care of them. Do you have a backyard or even a garage? I really think it might be a good idea to get a few more enclosures. I understand that you have a passion for all of these rescued animals, but it seems to me that even your new enclosure is too small.
I have one Russian tortoise, and I have a tank close to the size of yours, but it is just for her. I have been reprimanded that the tank is too small for her! I fear that you may have serious problems or your tortoises may become injured because there are too many tortoises together in one small space. Also, mixing species, I have heard, could cause serious problems.
That being said, however, I am glad that you have rescued these animals and I truly wish the best for you and your tortoises!

I'm sorry if my post(s) seemed overly critical.
I wasn't trying to upset you. Just trying to point out a few things.
many members keep tortoises in less then ideal conditions. But you asked....And I responded.
My wife and I also have quite a zoo and we're lucky enough to live in a climate that lets us keep our seven tortoises outdoors 24/7.
There is very helpful information here for every type of tortoise that you keep. Even the box turtles.
Please don't let a few critical posts keep you from getting help and learning about your animals. This place has been a tremendous help to many people. Myself included.

I understand what you are saying, and i do listen, i have had my torty's more then 5 years. I have found and read all data and i would welcome advice,
So maybe you can help me? I use cypress mulch for bedding that gets changed out completly biweekly sooner if needed
I check it closely everyday, i have one heat lamp 100 watt at one end, one black heat lamp 100 watt at other end so they have warm brite light warm for water, warm dark area for sleep and my sulcata lives in the big base, his basking light is right outside of his area, ok that light is a uv light for sulcata basking/he also has a esmall heater on floor then his kool dark spot is inside base he has a special pad he sleeps on, the basking light sits up high enough it shines some what in to the redfoot/and everyone else up top by there white heat light,i have humidity and a monitor at each enď, but the humidity
Fluxuates (spelling) i am open to suggestion
Please and thank you

Also, if you found your Redfoot tortoises outdoors in your location,"near a lake", they WOULD have died from the cold.
I would consider them rescues.
Yes i do consider them rescues
Wè saw one on the road by the lake
When i picked him up and walked over to
Put him off thevroad that is when i found them there more but wild life had been after them and some just had never lived outside, some where water turtles (6)
We ok and we found a rescue for them
We took all saved and homed what we could kept and love the rest, just so if you read this and have suggestions to help
I appicate it. Thank you
