I've been looking online and can't find any information , maybe someone on here knows. I'd love a desert tortoise or 2 ? Can I have them in NY? I'd love to adopt them?

They like lots of hot day and lots of room to walk around. I can't imagine how you could provide that.

How about another kind of tortoise? Do you have any others?

Barb is right. They cannot be removed from their home states due to Federal laws that protect them.

Can you move to CA, NV, or AZ? :)

Phoenix has great summers. Totally different than that NY climate you are used to. :p

New York is a big place and it can get very cold...but lots of people in New York keep tortoises successfully!

Oh I would move in a instant to a warmer climate. Just for my tortoises! Lol I can't leave my 84 year old Dad.

I wish the laws weren't what they are. I think it would be great to captive breed lots of desert torts and let people all over the country have them. Makes no sense why a person in NY can import a tortoise from Afghanistan, Madagascar or South America, but not from NV, CA, or AZ...

I have 8 Russian's, 1 Greek and 2 Leopards. I have 2 outdoor enclosures for the Russian's all inside a 50'x 40' fenced in area for the Leopards. They have to be brought in at night though.
I have an entire tortoise room 15x12 . The leopards have the entire run of and the others are in Tortoise tables.
I breed Russian's too.
