Bigger home for Albus

I was supposed to be getting a house in early August but the deal fell through. I had a little kiddie pool that was perfect for the short wait, but now found myself feeling bad for the little guy and running out to make sure he is good for awhile if we are stuck where we are for awhile longer.
It is 4×8, and the walls are 12inches high.
This isn't complete yet, I underestimated the amount of supplies I'd need, and then it was getting too dark to see my work well.
I'll update tomorrow when it is complete, but here's some pics until then...

And the enclosure. There is plywood on the bottom, and then plastic liner to hold in moisture.

I need more mulch and grass to finish, and I have a hibiscus plant and a few other odds and ends to put in, but he'll have a good variety of terrain to grow big and strong.

And in the front is his temporary housing. It was a fine little space, but his new home will be everything he needs.

I am in Florida, so humidity isn't too much of an issue for me. But I water the mulch and soil in his enclosure to keep levels up. It has been right around 80% in there almost 24/7.
It is never below 70%.
It rains every day here right now alot of times humidity is even in the 90s on the hygrometer.

So I've almost got it finished. I have another uvb light coming tomorrow for more sunshine, and another hide as well.
I've tried to give different terrains and uneven grounds so he will build up his strength in those legs of his.


He has been pretty skittish so far and not explored much yet.

You have a lot of open space there, maybe try adding leafy plants to give him some "privacy" It could help with him being skittish.

I have 2 plants I got from a nursery in town, but Noone there could give me a solid answer on chemicals used on them so I'm afraid to put them in just yet. Was going to wait a month or more of just having them grow here before I added them.
He also never runs for shelter, or goes for corners. He "hides" right in the middle of the grass.
But yes I feel it is too open as well, and will figure something out until I add plants.

How are you making it predator proof? Less rocks and more dirt. Add in some aloe vera if you can as well.

For predator proof it is on a sealed up screened in porch.
