Would it be safe to use a block of sphagnum moss from Home Depot instead of a pet store?

Like CowboyKen already said, yes, just make sure there aren't any additives for "better plant growth". I get all my peat moss and sphagnum and orchid mix and cypress mulch from Home Depot or Lowes or local garden centers. Got a great bale of 100% Canadian peat moss last Fall....

I've used that kind quite a few times on aquatic hatchlings , it's in the water they drink and live in ..... I give it a rinse before I use it , it can be cleaned like a sponge a couple times before it breaks down to much to use .......
