even though many will say it is impossible to tell the sex of your tortoise until they are in between the ages of 5-10, the reality of me and my tortoise is this. He’s 8 months old and his tale is as long as my pinky finger and it’s always tucked to the side, and that is only a trate of a male. He’s so adorable I love him with all my heart.

Hello. This is interesting. May I ask where you got your tort?

I rescued him from PetSmart!
I suspect that he is probably around 5inches in shell length then. I'm afraid it is very unlikely that your tort is 8months old, but several years old.
For some reason pet stores are determined to sell their wild caught, imported torts as as "young" or "babies" when in truth they have no way of saying how old the tort is.

If your profile picture shows your tortoise, he is definitely much older than 8 months. ;)

Yep, you have an adult, probably 5-10 year old Russian right there. All PetSmart tortoises are wild caught, and they have to be at least 4 inches to be sold. Your gonna need a 4ft x 8ft enclosure ;)
