When I adopted mine last April, she was 20 months old and only 273 grams. Now, at 29 months old, she is almost 800 grams. They go through spurts, I believe. Have you had yours since it was a hatchling? It looks nice and smooth.

I got him in September and they told me he was about 5-6 months so I’m assuming he was born in March or April

Hi, when he is really 10 months old he is pretty light in weight. I think he is younger.
Does he gain weight as long as you got him ?
Where do you got him from and do you know if he was started in dry or humdid conditions ?
Do you soak your baby daily and what do you feed ? Can you show us some pics of the enclosure of your tort and tell us your temps and humidity ?
A lot of questions I know but they help us to help you or your baby tort.

I don’t know how much he weighed when I got him, he was a gift just from a local pet store. I had seen him there often and as a big lover of any kind of turtle/tort I fell in love and shortly after someone bought him for me as a gift. I used to soak him a lot but now he does it on his own quite often. IMG_8385.jpgIMG_8065.jpgIMG_7333.jpg the pictures below are from within the last couple months. He eats a mixture of kale and some other leafy greens but I plan on switching that to mostly grass and weeds when the weather gets a little nicer. He also gets a sprinkle of flukers tortoise diet with his food.

He was not 5-6months old. He was 5-6weeks old. You can see the egg tooth clearly in the second picture. This is lost at about 6weeks of age.

So that would make him like 5 months now. I was so frustrated when I got him because I didn’t get much info with him. Wether the person who gifted him to me didn’t get any information or didn’t relay it I’m not sure. Either way thank you for your help!

Cute baby you have there but I do think you had some inaccurate information when you received him, he definitely looks younger than 10 months and the egg tooth is a big indicator. All Sulcatas grow at different rates, so don’t worry too much! What kind of set up do you have your baby in? Lighting, heating, humidity and diet?

He’s currently in a 20 gal tank with zoomed reptibark bedding. He has a water dish and food bowl and a log for him to hide in. He also has a heat lamp and uvb bulb but I need to make some adjustments to the top of tank (the metal is blocking the uv) until I can get a better enclosure for him. It’s frustrating to me that I am not giving him the absolute best right now but I’m working to get it done ASAP.

Just be sure to have his temps (90-105 basking, 80-85 night and cool side) and humidity (80% and above) correct alongside daily warm 30 minute soaks and a varied green diet and he’ll be just fine, he will outgrow that enclosure in a couple of months. No need to be frustrated, it’s a constant learning process!
