Hey y'all! I'm going on maternity leave soon and need some new reading material. Anything on reptile care, history, evolution, folklore, etc. Preferably books, not just articles. I figured y'all are the perfect people to ask!

If anyone is interested in recommendations - I am currently reading 'Eye of Newt and Toe of Frog, Adder's Fork and Lizards Leg: the Lore and Mythology of Amphibians and Reptiles' which is excellent. Also 'The Frogs and Toads of North America: a Comprehensive Guide' is a good one. And I have been known to sit and read field guides because I'm a nerd. For fellow Texans, the 'Texas Natural History Guides' are definitely worth checking out.

Oh yes, I have a tiny zoo - bearded dragon, tortoises, fish, rats, dogs, cats, geckos, snake, turtle, millipedes, insect colonies, plants... And soon a tiny human hahahaha! I think I have all the major animal groups in my house except for birds. As far as I'm concerned they can stay in the backyard (with the feeder I so thoughtfully provided)!

Be careful, it's addictive! I have some ADFs I'm putting in the nursery. :) Wondering how old the baby has to be before I can use him as an excuse to get more animals.... "But honey, it's a pet for the baby not for me!!!"

I had some white's tree frogs, which I had been wanting for months and spent all this time setting up the perfect enclosure for them, right? So I get them, set them up, but their smell made me sick to the point of throwing up. I kept them for 2 weeks before I had to return them because I couldn't physically take care of them with all my gagging. And it was totally wierd because I am NEVER squemish about smells.... so anyway a week after I returned them I went to the doctor and found out I was 3 months pregnant! I had no idea, and the frogs were one of the big things that tipped me off that something was up. Mystery solved hahahaha!
