~ Thank you @Yvonne G. According to the vet this is the best option. He stated that if this fails, he is unsure what to do next. I think from the way things were explained to me, the mesh is mainly used as an extra precaution to help secure the area so the stitches can actually hold and allow the skin to fully heal together. Based on these pictures, it looks like it should hold this time. We are taking every precaution with his recovery and following the vets instructions without exception.

Fingers crossed day 4,5,6,7,etc all go without incident.
Any special diet for him in these early days? Thinking that a more watery diet for softer stools, less pressure and strain would be a good idea?

~ Day four, seems like things are good. No special diet, cooked potato for medication administering. We make sure he gets plenty of fresh clean water. His appetite seems to be back to normal.

Potato! He sure is spoiled. ;) Good to hear he's recovering well.
