Just got some Tortoise Herbal Hay in from Tyler at Tortoise Supply, I’ve been looking forward to adding this to Spur’s diet. Has anyone else tried? Looks like great stuff IMG_5518.jpg

I use it. Its very good stuff. Start with a tiny little amount mixed in with wet greens. Some of my tortoises didn't seem to care for it initially, but all of them loved it after a brief introductory period. In time, I could just sprinkle some on top of the greens and they'd all come running as if it was Mazuri.

That’s good to hear, I’ve read on his site about and it seems like a gold mine. I mixed a small amount in with his food this morning before work, so we’ll see what his dinner plate looks like a in a little while [emoji41]

I couldn’t get my tortoise to eat it but she had turned into a grazer by the time it arrived; mixing it with wet greens wasn’t really an option. It seems like an amazing addition, especially if you have exclusively indoor totoises.

It sure looked and smelled amazing. I couldn’t bear to toss it and ended up putting it into muslin bags and using them as a bath soak—for humans. I definitely got my money’s worth! :)

That’s awesome! Our guy is mostly indoors for now due to age and this cold weather we’ve had but he’s going to start to transition out as the weather continues to warm!

Fantastic product! I bought a bunch early on and added another pound of dried hibiscus flowers, calendula petals, dandelion and shepherd's purse leaves. At first I used a 90/10 ration of Mazuri to herbal hay until the torts got used to it. I feed the Mazuri/herbal mix 1x week to my stars and have been slowly increasing to 20/80 Mazuri to herbal hay.

I also am experimenting with Moringa powder. I add a small amount of it to the Mazuri/hay mix every other week. The nutrients from the powder seem promising, but my group seem to be able to smell it, as they eat the mixture much more slowly when I add the Moringa powder.

A couple of things I have noticed when feeding the herb/Mazuri mixture.

1) My herd seems to prefer the Mazuri/herbal hay mixture after it has sat in the fridge overnight. I'm not sure if the flavor or the smell changes, but I recommend trying it if you have a picky tort.

2) My small male who NEVER eats anything that does not grow in his pen has been willing to take a few bits of a Mazuri, herb, and diced fresh opuntia mixture lately. I would say the goopy mess is 80% cactus, and 20% Mazuri/herb.

Question: For those who use the herb mixture, do you still use supplements like herptivite, miner-all etc..? I have stopped as I feel the herb mix/mazuri/moringa powder should be more than enough, but maybe there is something I am overlooking....

Has anyone used this on its own occasionally? Maybe rehydrated?
I have, not as a sole meal though. I have soaked some, and also tried it dry. I just put a small amount next to what he was already eating in a small pile to see what he would do. Wet or dry, the results were the same. He devoured it.
