After a long process the new enclosure is finally built. On top of my wood working skills not at a pro level was in the process of buying a house. Pretty proud of it! Had to build it modular so it could be transported into room and then assembled like legos in a sense. 5 foot by 3 foot is the floor plan. Caulked, 3 layers of kennel seal and a tarp under the substrate keep it water tight. Substrate is organic soil with repti bark on top, CHE is set on a thermostat for 84 degrees so right under lamp should be a little warmer, humidity averages in high 70s low 80s I have to get a foam strip to seal the door better to maxamize humidity. Will get more plants to replicate natural environment just bought a house so got to save up a bit. All for my 1 year old redfoot

Nice work!
Is that exterior plywood? I ask because with the high humidity will come mold on the wood.
If not, I'd seal the inside walls with something now. Later will be too late.

Interior wise the entire thing is sealed with kennel seal, multiple coats. 100% waterproof and non toxic

I love it! Such a beautiful balance of enclosure and decorative furniture. Great work!
Thank you! The wifes requirement is that it looked like it belonged in the house with all of our white trim. The fancy legs are pre spun from home depot nice little touch

This is the first time I've heard of someone using kennel seal. Is it something you would recommend? Does the finish seem robust enough to hold up to a tortoises claws?

I used multiple coats and still have lots to touch up. My redfoot is still small and not much of a digger. On top of the caulking and kennel seal I have a thick tarp under the soil and repti bark to help hold moisture in and a extra layer of protection

My redfoot is much more active in this enclosure as it holds humidity and heat so much better than the open top. Got a picture mid drink.
