Lol. As long as they stay outside and I don't have to go under the hibiscus tree it is fine. Although my mother in law refuses to come visit us. We must go to her house.[emoji23] [emoji23]

I think you are referring to the deeper groove along the scute boundaries......I would say that is the boundary between the growth areas and the plump areas on either side of that groove is the new growth.

Yes sorry I was refering to the groove. Rue has not had that before. Is it normal?

Can you send a picture zoomed in a bit ? Usually grooves come about after a period of no growth, but sometimes the boundaries can look like grooves.

Looks normal to me. The recent growth looks flatter and smoother than the initial growth which is good.

@Sterant,
I will post each tort in it's own post so that you can match the pics with what goes with what tort. Let me know if I need to give further info.

So the first two Adult Torts I saw where the below. Tort 1 will be numbered with an "a" and tort 2 will be numbered with a "b". Sorry I think that they are posting twice. Please bear with me if you see them twice, I normally post them via the App.View attachment 230408 View attachment 230408 View attachment 230410 View attachment 230411 View attachment 230412 View attachment 230413 View attachment 230414 View attachment 230415 View attachment 230408 View attachment 230410 View attachment 230411 View attachment 230412 View attachment 230413 View attachment 230414 View attachment 230415 View attachment 230408 View attachment 230410 View attachment 230411 View attachment 230412 View attachment 230413 View attachment 230414 View attachment 230415

Good Morning Everyone,

How do you tell the age of a tortoise? Do you count the number of rings?

Thanks

When taking a pic of Whitey to measure her I noticed this. Should I worry about it and can I clean it watered down Betadine or put the betadine ointment straight on it. Or should I just leave it alone and keep an eye on it?20180319_173228.jpg

Carol - is that hole deep? Or is it just a little dent? The area around the hole looks like an old wound but the hole is hard to make out. Some full strength betadine wouldn't hurt. Just not sure its necessary (wouldn't hurt either way)
