I live in Jamaica, where it is not available (actual reptile calcium) but I managed to acquire a tub of ZooMed ReptiCalcium which is supposed to be ONLY for reptiles. I sprinkle it on the tortoises and iguanas food maybe twice per month. There must be something special in it which is the reason that it's only for reptiles!?
For a great protein and calcium meal, my torts love hard boiled egg crushed up with the shell.

Can you elaborate on that? (Ingredients, nutrition, etc).
What is negative about dog food that rather isn’t in cat food?

What I’ve read and heard, is that there is too much fat in dog food. I got a good amount of info from Turtletary.com ( Terry). You can read his Red Foot care sheet. It’s loaded with info.

Both dog and cat food contain too much fat. That’s why we get low fat. You can find dog or cat food labeled “low fat” or find the brand with the least fat by comparing the % of fat labeled on the nutrition label. I don’t think the fat is an issue.

You can just get some mazuri crocodile chow pellets and use them. I did for the first couple months before I switch to worms and egg.

Is there a reason to use croc chow instead of the tortoise diet?
