Spur’s Weigh in, I meant to post yesterday but didn’t get around to it. He seems to be growing good and I’m really starting to see the benefit of daily soaks and probably humidity, his shell has smoothed out so much now that he’s starting to put on some size.

Hey Stuart, an “infant”???!!! You guys had another baby????!!!! Congratulations!!!![emoji323][emoji322][emoji253]❣️❣️❣️your sully is growing nicely. I don’t know about sulcata sexing but yours looks to me still like a very young sully tail. I’m betting on “too early to tell”.

Yes, we’ll she’s 2 months old now but she’s a tiny thing, Presleigh Belle :) if you scroll up, I posted a picture of her and Spur together shortly after we got brought her home lol

But thank you very much! Sometimes I fear he(she) is growing too slow and I put the blame on myself but he eats everything in front of him, still soaks at least 5 times a week and gets plenty of sunshine time now that we’re in Texas! And that’s what I was thinking I was just being impatient :/

I had plans on constructing Spur’s outdoor house this summer but my grandmother offered me this for free and I’m really excited about its potential. It’s a dog house she had built for their Rottweiler that they had to put down (he never used it and a storm blew the door off last year) but it’s 8 ft long and about 4 wide on the inside, its already wired for electricity (noticed the AC for the dog) and insulated. I have a handful of ideas on what needs to be done but any wisdom and other ideas would be a great help. It also took 5 people to load it! IMG_0549.jpgIMG_0551.jpgIMG_0556.jpgIMG_0552.jpg

Scored big time [emoji1362]
Maybe a hinged drop shelf attached to the inner side of the cabin, about a third to halfway up. It could be kept raised in summer, but in winter swung down to conserve heat, and give Spur that cozy closed in feeling they like.

Shelves are great in tortoise sheds. I have at least one, sometimes two on the walls of my sheds. Besides giving the tortoise something to hide under, it gives you a place to store stuff. I also built tort tables in a couple of my tortoise sheds, and I keep the younger ones in tort tables in the sheds.

You don’t want them to grow too fast. I don’t remember what this was exactly but there has been a discussion on here somewhere about that and some very well respected long time members stating that, but again, can’t remember why exactly[emoji851] You must be doing a great job with Spur bcs he is looking very healthy and has GORGEOUS shell!!! Stick with that frequent soaking for as long as possible. My RF’s are 3 yrs old and I still bathe them every single evening before supper after we bring them inside from their garden. I swear it’s that soaking that helps them stay so healthy and strong
