@Redfoot NERD @Anyfoot

Thanks to these folks and many others these guys will have a good shot at outliving me. I weigh them irregularly but often enough to see they are growing. A few poops appear in the water on a daily basis. This is a vision cage that I converted for tortoise use, from the more typical snake use. They are light weight, and easy to sanitize. All plastic two piece fused plastic.

I'm not real comfortable with the steep sides of your waterer. I've seen babies try climbing out of steep sides only to find themselves on their back in the water. The babies look great, by the way.

Do you know what locality these are Will?
" Bolivians " so at least the northern part of the Gran Chaco phenotype. The distinctions that are brought to them as 'different' than a more encompassing phenotype for Gran Chaco makes bio-geographical sense to me. They are physically closer to the northern populations, so less derived than those that are farther south.

Try putting them in water over their head and see what happens?

@Will. When you get the chance can you take some photos of your redfoots please?
I tried snapshotting your video, which is hard. Are they all smooth. The one I managed to snapshot looks absolutely perfect, do you know the details of how they were cared for with the breeder? I can’t remember if you mentioned it or not, how old were they when you got them?
This is the one I managed to snap from your video.

I'm well behind in other tasks, but I'll put it on the roster. One has a extra scute and the junction is rough, but not pyramided, more like purse lips.
Six came from Redoof nerd, and two came from another source. I believe they may have all come from the same colony, but I don't know for sure. All are fall 2017 hatchlings if I recall correctly.

I've read Redfoot Nerds writings a few times, both here and on his webpage. Though I may not agree with everything he write I agree with most of it, and he reasons out why he does what he does.

I just posted a new video of these guys on the Kapidolo Farms facebook page. They have really torn the enclosure up, all the plants are eaten out of existence. One somehow climbs into one of the pots and hangs out there. They sit in standing water for a huge proportion of the time, NO shell rot. @Anyfoot I tagged you on the FB post.

Yeah. Just commented.
I don’t think they ever get shell rot in clean(ish) water. I had a hingeback that sat in water for best part of 20hrs a day. Never once did it get shellrot. I think fungus or bacteria has to grow then be transferred to the plastron. Maybe the plastron has to be scratched too.
