Greetings all, we are finally through Winter here in the DELMARVA area. No more snow, no more ice, the grass is greening up, the weeds are growing like gangbusters AND the dandelions are here being enjoyed by our Sully once again.

Enjoy the video..

Quick stats/info on our Sully:
  • Hatched May 2014 by @Lancecham in California
  • Shipped to MD in June
  • Weight now about 70 lbs
  • No issues, no problems

Sully looks great. Boy, he really likes his dandelions. He is getting very, very big. You are doing a wonderful job with him.

Greetings all

Was just chatting with Walker’s owner Len in the Northern Neck of Virginia and he asked about Sully. Our Sully is doing just fine and is once again enjoying Maryland’s hot, humid Summers. Sully is outside fulltime now having spent the Winter months “trapped” inside our sunroom in his own little world. But now, hes outside, in grass, weeds, mud, being serenaded from dawn ‘til dusk by all types of bird life. He’s also enjoying banana, Rose of Sharon and mulberry leaves. He’s normal routine is to sneak out early for a morning snack, back in his heated hut during the bright sunshine, then back out later in early evening. But on rainy, thundershowery days...he’s usually found out prowling around enjoying the rain heat and humidity.

We havent weighed him in sometime now....but right about 70 pounds give or take AND celebrated his fourth birthday in early May. We use 12 May 2014 as his official b’day.

So, heres our Sully out enjoying a lunchtime snack today.

So jealous of all you Maryland sulcata owners. I lack the indoor space I’d need for winters but spring and summer here I bet they love all the rain, heat, weeds, and fresh grass!!

Good Evening All

Thought I would post a pix of our Sully as he slowly thinks about exiting his house... He will often sit in this position for hours just watching the world go by - flies, bugs, lizards, bees, planes, birds...who knows what else. Possibly counts the grass blades or clover blossoms. Might be waiting for a dandelion blossom, who knows. Wait, wait, wait. All the time in the world, 24/7, time is on his hands. Eat, drink, walk, graze, sleep. Eat, drink, walk, graze sleep some more. Time.. ticks on. Warm and happy and hot and humid and content. The life of a Sulcata - at peace, at rest. The real summertime heat and humidity are approaching. One happy sulcata tort.

The Resting Position, Decisions Decisions

Hey, i would say about every two to three weeks. Sully wastes no time in munching away on these cuttle bones and it really helps maintain a very straight beak. Straight beak useful (necessary) in snipping off grass and leaf blades.

Greetings All

Finally some great Sulcata weather here in Maryland! Hot hot hot and humid! Over 90 today and yesterday and equal humidity! Heat index is 110, give or take. Our Sully has been enjoying this heat wave, out early for a snack, sleep’s during the hot heat, then out much later for evening grazing. Grazing on fresh weeds and grass in his yard, supplemented with even more weeds, rose of sharon, grape leaves, mallow, dandelions...

Here are a few pix from today’s afternoon grazing
