A couple years back Tom and I split up a clutch...he raised half his way...I did it my way. While Tom's did fluorish...nothing could prepare me for what happened with mine! Here's the thread in all it's glory for you to peruse...study...dissect! In a nutshell, I took ALL of these babies from 30 grams to 3 and 4 pounds in just the first year! And guess what?!?!? Tom and I are talking about doing it again! To be continued...

The above is our Sulcata, Nancy Drew. She's actually male but it took a few years till we realised that, so she continues to be a 'she' to us :)
I started the chart (above) when we first got her. She was just a few weeks old, and she's just turned six. I don't know how big a Sulcata SHOULD be at six years old. Is there an average size, or does it just depend on the individual?

I know this is a old thread but I am concerned. Opo at 13.5 months and weighs 695 grams. Seems small compared to some of the posts. Any thoughts?

Have you been tracking Opo's weight over the months? I believe the growth rates can really vary but as long as he is consistently gaining weight it should be okay... I'll let someone else chime in with more specifics.

I had finally bought a scale a week before Opo went missing. Opo weighed 525 then 10 days later 590 now 695. I will start documenting on a regular schedule.

Sounds like he's moving in the right direction! I first weighed Vlad he was 1868g so I can't offer much input on growth rates for smaller ones.

@TechnoCheese how much does Curtis weigh these days?

IMG_1076.jpg 6.5 inches long, and almost two years old. Not entirely sure if he’s average, too small, etc lol

Beautiful tort! I just read your profile. Wow how great is it that such a young person is so knowledgeable. Opo seems to be on the same track as Curtis. Do you know why Curtis has dark legs?

Thank you so much!
Curtis has dark legs because the peat moss and coco coir in his enclosure have stained him, and he’s always muddy lol

Great looking Tort and what a growth rate. I need to start weighing my two to see how fast they grow. I got them in April and they fit into tiny little dishes which they arrived in now they are 3x that size. Keep up with the well documented weight changes.
